Default removing speedometer cable

hi all....i'm trying to remove the speedometer cable from my tranny but it seems like it won't budge....can anyone give any advice on how to remove it....thanks.

btw: i have an '89 crx si

pull back the rubber boot and you should see a clip that is holding the speedo cable to the tranny. put the clip out and the speedo cable should come right out.

and be careful not to drop anything in the hole.

i'm going by the helms manual and it didn't say anything 'bout removing the rubber boot....the drawing just says to turn it then pull the cable out ....thanks guys for the tips

you won't remove the rubber boot, you will pull the boot back to expose the clip holding the speedo cable to the tranny.

so don't rip the boot off.

Help please, I'm having the same problem with the same car, I've removed the clip on my cable but the housing pulled out and the cable is still stuck. I've been yanking and twising and puling the cable but it won't budge, What could be going wrong?
