Default Difference in EK 96-98 from a 99-00? (Hatch)

Well, I've been looking at the difference of the cars for quite awhile, I've noticed a different in-dash. (Correct me if I'm wrong) And different style bumper.

I'm pretty new to EK's and so on, so it doesn't really hurt for me to start learning. My EK is a 97 Hatch, what I'm really wondering is if I can do a conversion to a 99-00. I saw some parts at password that I may be able to use to help convert my car. (I understand that I may have to modify some stuff and wiring is a bit different, I don't really mind at all) I want to know if it's really possiable for me to do a conversion before I purchase the stuff from password.

If I'm missing anything please fill me in. :]

Sweet, man thanks for the help. I appreciate it. I'll have the front conversion done to my car next week.

I'm planning to just change the front end, then add the jdm foglights. I may change the dash when I finish up the front end conversion.

for the front end: really only the bumper LOOKS different, but everything IS different...if you want to do it you will need healights, fenders, hood, and bumper (with grill)...then you will have to cut little slits in the bumper to fit it right...its pretty much bolt on other than that....and as for the dash. only the climate crontols are different...but this is a much bigger project you have to change out the heater core etc. this is something you will need to read a lot more about before jumping into.

Sweet, I love the assistance. :] It's awesome in these forums. I'll come talk to you alacard when I buy the front conversion. I'm aware of the grill and such. I've seen the guide to installing the dash, I know it isn't easy. Hopefully, I'll get it done though. I'll take pictures of me installing the front conversion when I get my camera.

I'm going to see if I can install the front conversion wiht my slightly bent frame on the drivers side fender.

What I'm really worried about right now is my angel eyes. I'm SO PRAYING that they'll fit in my 99-00 front conversion.

they wont...headlights are 96-98 and 99-00 specific...at the most you could hope for fitment with gaps...i think that might be possible...but it wont look nice. just sell them and get something else thats what we are all about, right? change.

Wouldn't it be just easier and cost about the same to just sell your car and buy a 99-00 as oppose to buying all these parts and swapping them into your car?

probably. but once you've bought and put time/money into a car its not that simple. but yes that thought has crossed my mind (and i'm sure many others) when doing 99-00 conversions.

I'll find the link in a minute but you can do the whole interior changeover easily. You just replace certain parts and everything works just fine. The front end swap involves new headlights, new bumper, and new crossmember. Its also pretty straight forward. I own a 2000 civic hatch....best way to have all those choice parts...
EDIT: DIY's archives
EDIT2: Link INSIDE DIY/FAQ thread: 96-98 to 99-00 climate control swap

Lol, I wish it was that easy. I already bought the car, paid the DMV some registration fees, and so on. The last place I'd want to be is at the DMV and doing another smog test.

Angel eyes? You will be flamed whenever you post your pics with those.

have you looked into getting the sir lip or the ctr lip for your current 96-98 front. both of those would look very good on your car and it would be cheaper.
