it sounds like you have exsessive shaft play to me. mikght just be a bearing problem. i have been through that before.

the engagement falls out of the sleeve with to much play.

yes. also...if it pops out of gear and the shifter does not seem to move to neutral...then you know it is excessive shaft play.

well the first step would be cracking it open and seeing what you have. if it is the mainshaft the fix is easy and will cost about 100 $. the bearings shipping might be expensive because they come from new york. at least the tranny side main will. this is hot a universal bearing either. you should check out gear speed too and give them a call n prices. they are very helpful.

i would say if u brought it to someone (tranny) it wil be a bit pricey.

try to find someone on here to do it.

I heard of people doing it for around 100 plus parts. worth it.

well first thier are a number of problems u have so it sounds to me u need a complet overhaul from what u are saying but u never know the whole truth till u get into the trans. falling out of gear could be shaft play but i would say its your gears are worn out so bad it just dont hold anymore. or thiers a ring next to the syncro that holds the sleeve in position & it could have broke of even worn down also.

i see your in va. so your a little far away from unfortunatly. im in west palm fl.

i can tell u this. 3rd/4th are sold as a set with syncros hub ect. retail at $290 from dealership shop price is around $250

5th/reverse arer also sold as a set & it will cost around the same.

lucky for u 1st/2nd are on the counter shaft & u might not have to touch that shaft.

i can tell u this dont take your car to a domestic shop. u will regret it.

lol, yeah no domestic shops... they always look confused when i lift the hood.
