Default OBD-2 to OBD-1 question

I'm gonna be putting a chipped OBD-1 ecu in my 97 GSR, and was wondering if any wiring modifications are necessary OTHER than the adapter harness for the ecu?

There is one more thing you will need to do. You will need to unplug the EVAP sensor. If you don't it will cause anything between hard starts, engine dying (esp. in cold weather)and rough idle.

The only thing I did when I swapped to a P30 was plug the conversion harness from Skunk2 in and go. Haven't had a problem for the last 10 months.

I never said you were a liar or that what you said was incorrect. I simply said that I didn't have to do anything when I switched. Maybe my car is already so fucked up that it doesn't matter.

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The P28 ecu turns on the purge control solenoid at idle; with a type-r manifold, that means a large vacuum leak. On the D16 SOHC engine, the purge vacuum source is ported vacuum coming off of the throttle body, as opposed to the type-r which uses straight intake manifold vacuum. The type-r ecu only allows purge control activation above a certain rpm/manifold pressure (I'm not sure which, I would have to look it up ). The big vacuum hose going to the purge control valve on the firewall is where leak is. Unplug the electrical connection to that valve and see if you still get the symptoms. Or pinch the hose with needlenose pliers. Good luck."

Maybe it depends on what IM you are using. I myself needed to unplug the EVAP sensor.

I'm running a skunk2 IM, maybe they don't require it. This is all news to me.

Cool, thanks guys. Another quick question as long as I'm thinking about it... I've got a chipped P06 with VTEC added. I've used Crome (free) to burn a stock GSR basemap onto the chip. But, the basemap was written in P72 code, will it be compatible with the P06 ecu, or am I gonna have to convert it somehow?

As far as tuning, I have no clue. Try http://www.pgmfi.org.

Maybe I should look into doing that as well.

If you are not having problems, then I wouldn't worry about it.

This ECU hasn't been in my car yet, so I don't know if it works or not yet. I just figured I'd ask before I screwed anything up. I'm on pgmfi.org, and I've inquired over there awaiting a response. I'm getting the feeling that I'm gonna have to change that P72 bin somehow for it to work, but I dunno yet.
