Default Door to B-pillar mounted seat belt swap? Any info?

Anyone know what the secrets are for changing my 90 CRX to 88 model doors, then moving the belts to the B-pillar? Anybody got any ideas on that?

Thanks in advance. :-)

there's some nice websites on it. but basically, you have to weld a nut or two per side at the prepunched holes to hold the pillar seatbelts on, and then you have to change the wiring plugs on the doors so you still have speakers.

not hard if you have access to a welder.

Cool...you wouldn't happen to know which websites are out there, would ya? Did a coupla searches, couldn't find anything here or elsewhere yet. Off topic, I don't think this site's search engine is running on all four cylinders, can't seem to find much with it. :-)

OK fine, blame it on the new guy.

FWIW, I just did another search, came up with the following:

"No Results Found"

Besides, why should anyone do their own work when we can just lazily post our inquiry here? (that's sarcasm, of course)...

Seriously...thanks for the link, that looks like a particularly good write-up. :-)

check wiring there could be a bare wire rubbing somewhere or short cuircuting when the weight shifts from back to front from the brakes being applied.

I'm not sure if it makes any difference but the door jam where the striker plate is, is different. On the models with the seatbelt doors the striker is a few mm closer to the door than the models with the seatbelts in the b pillar.

I put 88 doors in my 90 and the door just barely hits the door jam above the striker

Now I'm using 90 doors that have the seat belts but I'm removing all the seat belt stuff and using what I welded into the b pillar.

I'm thinking the difference in weight would be the seat belt mechanism.

If it's the seat belt that makes the different then just get racing harness, lighter than 88 and simple plus no need to go all the troubles. LOl

Then you'll need to get a roll bar to bolt the harnesses to. What if you don't want/need a roll bar? Everyone has their reasons why they would do this.

The doors are lighter because of not having side impact beams

Racing harnesses are a super PITA. You can't reach anything(radio, HVAC controls) when you have them on.
