Damn, I was so planning on doing that :D You think SCCA would have a problem with that?

Re: Crx seat belt conversion write up: from door to pillar (Freemantle)
So Im Canadian and all Civic's and CRX's sold here have pillar mounted belts. There has never been a Honda here with the belts on the doors. Can you not just get a complete belt set from a CDN model and bolt them in?I cant see the chassis being different as half of the Civic/CRX's were made in Canada and half in Ohio regardless of there final market destination.Nice work on the belts though that looks like a solid setup.I should take some pictures of my car to compare the mounting setup etc.I actaully just removed my pillar mounts to install harnesses and a cage.

RHD Accord SIR wagons are made in the USA and then shipped to Japan
Thanks for the seatbelt write-up, I've been curious (but not enough that I was ready to take out my interior to experiment) about this for a while.

great write up. this is almost the exact same way we installed these belts in my fiancé's CRX. Glad to see we were thinking the same way as someone else out there in the world.
Here's a pic of hers (not meaning to ***** the thread, just thought it would be good to show another example), with the proper door panels
We also decided to paint the section black behind the door panel, to kinda "finish it off" She also has 88 door sills and we filled the metal where the door monted seatlbelts hung out, so it's smooth and clean

yup, that's my car i got the JDM door panels after we pulled out some of the interior panels and saw that most of the stuff we needed to do the conversion was already there from honda i got so much crap on another website for doing this because people said how it wasn't safe... but i think the way we did it is just as safe as factory. what i did after we were done is i got new door sills from a USDM '88 CRX to cover up those holes and stuff you don't need anymore when you convert to the pillar-mount.

actually there is a hole there already, and i just made that hole bigger, so the nut would fit in it.
and on the plastic there is a circle outline for the hole, so i imagin that the 88's are in the same possition. but yeh i do know what u mean, the door seat belts are higher.

Does anyone know why they put it in the door? If you crash and the door opens... wouldn't you get thrown out?

Re: Crx seat belt conversion write up: from door to pillar (Shirk)
This just makes me happy I have an 88. No door mounted belts to worry about
Good write-up, I enjoyed and bookmarked for future reference if I ever buy a 90-91.

looks good to me. Perhaps someone with an 88 can chime in and measure where their seatbelts go up to.

But are those JDM SI seats? I was under the impression the SI seats were Leather around the outer part with fabric with red lines in it, and the SIR/VT were the "CRX Vtec" seats. ive been wondering that lately.....</TD></TR></TABLE>
That's my fiancé, so I can answer for her while she's out. Leather outers with cloth centers are JDM SiR seats. the ones you are saing with CRX VTEC are EDM seats, and are all leather. Her seats are JDM Si seats from an EF7, and she also has the matching door panels too

Re: Crx seat belt conversion write up: from door to pillar (LamRacing)
I believe they moved the seatbelts to the door because they were to hard to reach for some folks.I like the pillar mount myself but my cars have both.I have two 91 si's and a91 dx and a89 hf They kept the pillar mount on all the hf's regardless of tthe year.

are you sure? a old friend of mine has a 91 crx HF and believe it was door mount. because his door was all busted up.
