Default Looking to complete the "flow" ;)

So ya, i gots a 95 Prelude with greddy header, down pipe and apexi cat-back. The intake system is completely stock except for a K&N drop in.

I wanna grab an intake, and after doing some research, it sounds like i'm better off going with an eBay intake coupled with a quality filter instead of paying top dollar for an AEM or other name brand (after all its just a tube right?)

Well i seen this one that already comes with a K&N which to my understanding is a reputable company: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...sting

So before i order, is there any others i should consider? Or should i just spend the extra money and grab an AEM?

Thanks

depends on where you live. Does your state smog require a carb sticker for aftermarket intakes, that pretty much decided what intake i had to get casue here in califorinia they do.

Just get an ebay one with a K&N filter and you will be just fine...Some will say that you need a by-pass valve...but i disagree

Well i was worried about that too, i was planning on getting the one i linked in my first post, and if it sat to low maybe cut it a few inches or so to raise it up off the ground a little bit.

I bought a BOMZ full cold air off of ebay for 50$ bucks, really wasnt expecting much out of it, but in reality it was very nice and fit well, all polished with nice silicone connectors and all i was really impressed.... so ide look into those as another option-

For good flow ditch the Greddy and buy a big baller exhaust. SMSP, Mugen, etc.

Is it really worth taking out the greddy and installing a new one?

Hell no unless you plan on adding more mods. SMSP and those other expensive headers (not to bash them at all because they are great products) are only worth it if your going turbo or Naturally aspirated. The only thing I could suggest is getting the 2.5 collector.

By the way, your intake should be fine. I'm assuming the piping is not the greatest quality but you wont have to worry about it I think.

Hrm, curious. I guess it's only somewhat beneficial with some bolt on's. That dyno chart on their site was definitely not a stock H22. Neat though.

How so? Don't you still need an aftermarket intake to use this?

yes, but you can get a short ram on ebay for under 50 bux.

so in total you spend:
50 for intake
40 for filter
50 for velocity stack

140 dollars and make "better" power than 200 dollars and all you get is a whale ***** and a brand name sticker.

lol, whale ***** eh?

I know what you mean though. I think shops here want $450 for the V2 intake which is just crazy. I'm actually getting a pipe next week for my 5th gen just for the hell of it, cause it's cheap

Let us know how you think this velocity stack works when you use it for a bit.

actually it only depends on if you live in califoriia or not. CARB stands for california air resources board.. so it doesn't really apply to other states.

is there any other way to go?

Not really but if you're not at the point of any sort of induction or internal mods then why spend all that money for a header? Either save up the cash to get a nice header or get something cheap and mod the collector for something decent.
