Default Over filling of oil by the Garage!

I have a 93 Honda del sol. When I bought the car the past owners just had a fresh Tune-up done to the car. Their garage over filled the motor by a quart. I removed a little over a quart of oil. After putting on about 1000 miles I had my father-in-law’s mechanic look the car over and had him change the oil. I never thought to check the level of the oil when I picked up the car. After about a week I looked a little closer at the bill, it state I was charged for 5 quarts of oil. I then checked the oil level, and sure enough it had 5 quarts. I was told it would not be a problem as oils today do not foam. Is this true or is it really bad for the motor?

Thanks for the feedback.

drain some of that out man, and start changing your oil yourself.

thats shitty when a place would do that.

at my work if we overfill, we have to drain it out.

if anything is wrong with it i would definatly raise hell at the place that did your oil change. they must be some real tools there to not check the oil level after changing the oil

Do you have problems to start the car in the morning, and is your idling everytime good ?

An oil overfill will give you an important oil return in the intake, and then make your car running bad.

Anyway, keep the right oil level.

Your car should be fine. A quart over isn't a whole lot if your just driving it like your everday car.

Now, the 8 quarts that were in my y8.....whew, that car got hydrolocked! Either my dipstick had a clog that prevented oil from getting to it or my oil was hiding outsomewhere but I checked 2 separate times about 3 hrs apart and both times my stick said '0' oil...

anyways, you should be fine.

this happened with my volvo, i usually change my own oil but i let my mom borrow it.... they put in a quart too much plus a quart of "oil additive"

oil had filled the valve cover....and worked its way onto the timing belt...

5 quarts is too much in a motor that takes about 3.8 to those "mechanics" for not checking it
