Hey ladies

Car is a 98 civic dx and we're swapping in a d16y8 engine w/only 15k miles. Need a new clutch and while I'm at it, a new flywheel to go in there.

About the flywheel: I dont want anything less than 14 or so pounds. Needs to be very daily driver-able. (because thats what it is) Price is a huge concern so if you know of any good deals, pass the word to me!

About the clutch: It isnt going to have more than 180-200 and thats if I turbo. Just looking for a slightly better-than-stock clutch for daily driving. Again, price is a huge concern so inform me about deals you're aware of!

 

Good Lord, not a single response. Do you all just not know anything about clutches or what?

 

ACT and fidanza, an 11lb flywheel is streetable

 

Just get an Exedy stage one and the Exedy 11lbs. I have a 8.5 lbs and its a DD. It was weird at first now I don't notice it at all.

 

clutchmasters stage 3 spoon flywheel. JRSC 2nd gen b16

Is exedy as good as act? (clutch)

Brand name wise, I would say act is better. I know some of exedy clutches are basically oem replacements. I myself, never ever had issues with act clutches, and will continue to run them on all my cars

Lets talk about pedal pressure. Near stock feel for just the stock replacement/stage 1 organic?

Stage 1, you won't really notice a difference.

They're about the same in IMO.

When I first got my Exedy Stg 1 in, it felt stiffer than before but not crazy stiff. I still have mine from 3 years ago and its still stiffer than my friends stock GSR.

 

I got an Exedy replacement for my 97 y7. Feel is exactly like stock, no slip, and wear has been excellent with about 10k so far. I got mine on ebay for 100 i think it was.

sounds like a simple task.
14 sounds ok, but ehh id leave it stock.
gotta go with the stage two XDT. good quality and very cost effective.
my last Y8 had this clutch for a few years, awsome.
i also hate to say it but Ebay that ****

 

Exedy stage 1 clutches are not great for boost aplications

 

I've been running my Dual Friction Centerforce clutch and Fidanza 8lb Aluminum flywheel for 100,000 miles between two B16 del Sol's daily driven with no problems other than the occassional chirp from the throw out bearing.

 

I have fidanza/exedy combo NO complaints.

I have the ultralight fidanza too and my car is a daily driver.... it's a LITTLE different but nothing dramatic...

Seriously I was on the same page as you prior to doing mine but got the light one because the civic isn't my only car so if it was THAT bad worst comes to worst I would've just swapped back in the stock one with some weight shaved off...

So it turned out that I still daily drive the civic when I'm not working on it... The flywheel takes about 3 seconds to adjust to and from there out it's not worse in daily driving...

Might not be much help to you, but I have an Exedy Stage 1 clutch and ATC Streetlite flywheel for my 00 EM1 B16 I don't have them installed yet, but i'm hoping to be pleased with them. I just have I/H/E

 

ACT XTSS w. prolite fly wheel.. its a charm.. grabs hard.. u neet to upgrade the fork if u want to use it for a while.. my experience..

i have an exedy organic w/ act streetlite 12lbs. flywheel. i like it, revs a little quicker and doesn't slip (just bolt ons). also, i've <U>heard</U> that a lot clutches on the market are exedy clutches w/ different names on them.

 

i used to have a exedy stage one and a act prolite flywheel, both were pretty good. i have a couple friends that have exedy oem replacement clutches and all of them are pretty good also.
