Cd's skip like crazy, even while not moving
This is my first time posting in this forum. Anyways, the problem I'm having is that ever since a couple days ago, any cd I put into my car's stereo/ head unit, every cd will skip really really badly, even when I'm not moving. The radio still works fine, but cds will skip like mad and is freaking annoying, sometimes it will even cut out for a few seconds. I was wondering what the problem could be? Do I need to buy a new head unit? Is there a way to test to make sure it's still good? Thanks for any help! O and the car is an integra, I have a pioneer deh-p3100. Never had any problems with it until now.
No it doesn't have warranty anymore, it's been on my car as long as I've had it. so to fix this do I replace the whole head unit? O and it helps when I turn the car off then on again it works for like a minute b4 doing the same thing.
i'd try to get a cd that has the cleaner on it first. Could just be dusty in there and the laser isn't reading it right. So try that before you replace it.

Why in the world would you want to keep your faceplate? I guess if you bought the same radio again you could reuse the faceplate but I'm not sure why you'd want to do it as it would come with a faceplate with it that would be new.
I'd personally look at Eclipse and Alpine. I'm not a fan of Pioneer ever since I heard a few of there low end systesm that compared to the low end Alpine sounded crappy It kind of turned me off although some of their higher end systems are decent.

pioneer used to have us void warranty's for those. some of them will beat the laser out of alignment.
