Eclipse Head Unit not working again
i posted about a week or two ago and we thought we found and fixed the problem. apparently the problem wasnt fixed. it seems like something has either damaged the motor that spins the disc before it is read or it could be really dirty and that could be causing the problem to. ive noticed that it doesnt really matter how scratched the cds are but rather the type that starts to create a problem for the deck. for instance if i use a store bought cd and put it in 9 out of 10 times it works on the first try. most of my burned cds work at this point as well but a particular bunch of blank cds that i recently bought and have been using cannot be read in the car for the most part. after i load one of these cds i usually have to kick the **** out of the side panels around the deck to get it going. ive noticed to that it usually happens when the car has been sitting for a while(not running). after ive been driving for a while and the deck has been playin one of my regular cds, ill try n switch for one of the cds that doesnt usually work, but then somehow it tends to work more often that way. maybe the deck needs to warm up now???? LOL im not sure what to do but my foot is starting to hurt from kickin the hell out of my car so maybe someone can help out. the deck is already out of the manufacturers warranty time window so im S.O.L. there. some folks said i can very very very carefully open the unit and try cleanin the lens but not guarranteed to work. help me out folks... thanks in advance!
Well the only other thing I can think of is the processor is latching up, maybe it's a power problem, check the ground, add a ground from the chassis of the HU to the cars chassis, [you can use the back brace bolt for the HU chassis ground point] and run a fused power from the batt. to behind the HU and connect the HUs constant power, [yellow] to it, use 10ga or 12ga wire for the power and ground, don't forget to cap off the oem radio harness constant power.
If that does not work, stop hurting yourself, and get a new HU.
