The difference is 40 (2002-04) to 50 (2005-06) horsepower. The K20A2/Z1 utilize True VTEC cam profiles on both intake AND exhaust (Non type-s is just intake side). The Intake manifold on the Non-Type-S has dual unequal lenth intake runners, whereas the Type-S has single intake runners on the manifold. Compression is higher (Not sure, I think 11.5:1), and to make everything all the better, a six speed tranny.

you are not gona save that much money buying a no type s. the money you spend on geting an extra 40-60 hp you could pay the extra insurance and make over 200whp with the type-s

Is it possible to do all this to a non type - s? And if so, how expensive?

NO. There are multiple reasons for this. The biggest reasons for this is because the intake runners that reside in the head are so different. Another is that the Type-S K20 has grooves that are machined into the head that hold springs that keep tension on the rocker arms that follow the cams. I need to read up on this again.....***

the type s isnt 200 to the wheels think about it it has to lose some power in the transfer from the crank to the wheels

A stock S is Slooow, and it would take quite a bit of money just to get the base to stock S speed.
