Default GSR ecu question

Is it the same thing between the 97 gsr ecu and the 00 ecu. like plug and play
i know for the 00 i need to take out the immobilizer.

why would u need to take out the immoblizer? it is its own seperate thinglocated under the dash not part of the ecu. but as far as them being the same compare the plugs. i dont really remember if there is a difference on the outside but as far is the maps and stuff they should be the same.

The immobilizer is the least of your worries. The ECU won't plug in unless you have an OBD2a to OBD2b conversion harness.

Thank god i have OBD1. OBD2's are a pain the *** with their OBD2a OBD2b OBD2c OBD2d OBD2e etc. (jk)

yeah it's not plug and play. for one 97 is OBD2a and 99-01 are OBD2b. Plugs are different and not to mention immobilizer. that would mean you would have to get a chipped key and a 99-01 ignition.
