HELP!!! My car wont stay started
well i am at school now and i just went out to start my car but it wont stay started. it turns over but then dies right out a second after. i have tried resetting the ecu and hooking jumper cables up and i have no idea what could be wrong. i am going to call aaa tomorrow morning but i would just like some input from you guys on here if anyone ahs had a similar problem. this is just a huge inconveinence right now cause i am at school two hours away from my home. thanks
ok so its cranking over and as soon as you let go of the key it dies? if im undersatnding wat ur saying its most likely yor ignition switch . try this to rule it out, once the car turns over hold the key inbetween the 2 and the 3 basicly dont let the key turn all the way back to 2. if it stays runing its the switch. i had this happen 2 weeks ago and had to hold the key steer and push the clutch in while my friend shifted for me to get home lol.

lol, I know it's not funny, but that is funny. I had a friend break his throttle cable. So he took some speaker wire and tied it to the throttle and pulled on it to get it the rest of the way home (about 15 miles)

Same thing happened to me a few months ago. Car died while driving, would crank but wouldn't stay running. Ignition switch was fried. Ordered the part online (ignition switch w/ harness that plugs into fuse box) and had it overnighted for $60 total shipped and put it on the next day, very easy install.
What year is your car? The switches were different for different years. I ordered this one from Baranco Acura: http://www.barancoacuraparts.c...7C024
$35 + $25 to overnight
I think later Integras used this one: http://www.barancoacuraparts.c...7C024
which is $42

i drive a 96 gsr and i went back to work today and got it running. i had to play with the key abit. when i let go of the key i have to pull it back about 1 centimeter for it to stay on or else i wont get power. so the problem is the ignition switch?
can anything else be the problem?

took it to the shop today and the mechanic said its some electonic device inside the ingnition switch or soemthing. he said that the part will cost about 105 from dealer and hes willing to charge me 60 for labor.
anyone know for sure what the problem is?

I would agree, its the ignition part...
i had the same issue, instead of paying for it , mine wasn't tooo bad so i took all the excess keys off my keychain (sad huh)
it was enough to keep it from slipping. Might as well just get it done though.

dude is lying to you, look at the link I posted, the part for a 96 Integra is $35. You pull the lower dash bolster and steering column covers off, unplug 2 or 3 harness plugs, remove 2 or 3 screws and that's it, ignition switch comes off (easy to steal huh?
). Then you take your new one and put it back on, problem solved, be on your way.
Spending $165 to fix that means that guy just made $130 off of you.
