Default Differences between, swirl pot, oil/air seperator & catch tank *PICS*

I was wondering if anyone can explain the differences between these 3 items. I have a catch tank for my h22 and have been told that I can do away with the oil/air seperator (although I dont think this is correct) and think they serve different purposes. Is it advisable to remove the oil seperator and can they be swapped between different models i.e. d16 to h22 (as the engine sleeving company appears to have lost mine)

Swirl pot, seems to be more to do with fuel. I could be wrong thou

Catch tank

Air/oil seperator

Thanks in advance
