Default Clutch alignment??? Tool question...

Hey all, I have a quicky for ya... I am installing a fresh clutch on a B16A2 this Saturday, and a friend who is helping out has a clutch alignment tool... For a d series.

Will this tool work? If not, are there places that rent these or do I have to buy one outright?

We forgot to mark the clutch when we took it off last week, so we are kinda --->

Plz help HT! Thanks...

PS: If you live in/around Portland and have any suggestions on specific places to look, IM me.

Yea? Cool, I have not done a clutch before, so I am totally out of my element...

Can I get the tool at, say a Baxters or Autozone or the like, or should I call up specialty shops?

A chain parts store may have one. If not go by a transmission shop and they should have them. Should only be $1-2, if it's more they are ripping you off.

if you dont have one, no bigggie. when you're installing the clutch, get eye level with the splines on the hole and make sure the clutch disc is just pretty much centered with the flywheel bearing. i've done it NUMEROUS times without the alignment tool.

Yeah, you can do it without the aligment tool. Just remember that if the input shaft won't slide in don't force it in (it may take moderate force just don't get carried away). I've seen discs that look like soup bowls because guys tried forcing the input shaft in.

i just get the deep socket that fits perfectly in the hole for the input shaft, and then put a 1/4" extension in that and use that to line it up
