Default shift from 1 to 2 --> jerk

Hello;
I have a 1999 Honda Civic Ex., 57000 Miles (Automatic) on it. I just bought if from a private seller (2 days) and now I notice that the shifting from 1st to 2nd gives a jerk. All other gear shifting is smooth.

What do you think could be wrong with the car? What would be my first steps on solving this problem? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

My experience with my own honda auto tranny is that shifting problems are caused by using non-honda trans fluid. Changing the tranny fluid in my 98 (3 times in one week - to flush out the Dexron the PO put in) fixed all of my weird shifting problems. Fluid is expensive, like $6 a quart, but you only need 3 quarts per change. Plus it is easy to change. The drain bold in just right inside the passenger side wheel well. Don't even need to jack it up!

bc theoretically if you have a problem internally with your transmission putting new fluid in there will only make it worse, its the same deal with the honda i work for b/c if they flush it and the problem is still there, it is your right to go back there and demand they fix it which means money out of their pocket also check if the Drive light is flashing.. you know P R N (D)< that one sometimes a transmission code will cause that to blink instead of throwing a CEL
