Default Motor Mount Inserts.... what is your experience on this?

Is the egine vibration tolerable for everyday driving with the the inserts?

Some say it gets annoying at around 5,000 rpm and buzzy at idle. Is this worth the trade off on "feel and control".

Please share your thoughts and experience on this.

No it isn't worth the trade........I have ridden in cars with it........YUCK.

Get them for the suspension but not the Engine.

With our turbo civic + 4 puck clutch the engine bangs everytime you shift so we pretty much need them. Im just wondering if inserts are better or full replacement mounts.

Wow, i didn't really expect those comments from a bunch of hybriders. I love the inserts in my ride. The only time it really vibrates is when the motor hasn't fully warmed up, and that doesn't bother me a damn bit. I actually like the way it feels when i first start it up.

If you want a car that has no feeling, buy a damn buick or a lexus.

But if you're ever going to do a hard launch, they're a good investment.

Man!!! It's not THAT bad. A little vibration is more than a fair tradeoff IMO.

I have the inserts now.... I just got replacement poly torque mounts I am putting in instead.... more vibration I am sure... OK though. I am also going to get the rear drag mount. If you guys watch how much the engines move, you'll see how much it is worth it.

i think they're tolerable as far as idle and some vibration goes when cruising. it's just based on preference i guess.

for example: i hooked up my turbo timer to work with my alarm. before, i would be able to arm it during countdown and would have no problems. now, when i arm it during countdown, the shock sensor goes off because of the mounts.

i haven't tried launching my car yet so i don't know the exact benefits of the mounts. btw, the rear insert is a FUCKEN BITCH to install. i would advise you to remove your engine to put in that mount because i crimpped my two heater hose inlet and outlet by trying to put that damn thing in.

well, i installed the inserts on my friends boosted '00 ex and it's not that bad. i have hasport mounts in my b16 hatch. now those suckers vibrate the fillings out of my teeth! but IMO, the mounts are worth every rattle!

I just got my car running yesterday and I put the mounts in. The vibration itself doesn't bother me, but my dash rattles. By rattles, I mean EXTREMELY loud rattling when at idle. I think the dash makes more noise than the engine and exhaust put together at idle. It's very annoying.

I'm sure as hell not taking them out though. To answer your other question... I bought my inserts before I saw those replacement front mounts that are selling now. I'd buy the replacement mounts over the inserts.

well fkn said..

For those of you making power, it will matter considerably.. It helped me launch way harder than I was used to, now that my wheel-hop was all gone.. Accompanied by my B&M Pro Edge, shifting feel was WAY better.. For those of you who enjoy the feel of DRIVING, this is the mod for you.. I look past the minor vibrating involved.. (This is NOTHING compared to solid motor mounts and FULL poly/solid bushings found in real race cars).. All-in-all, I was impressed with the $50 mod for the engine, trans, shifter bushings..
