Default Emergency Brake (Searched)

I did a few searches on this topic and got nothing. I'm having a problem with the e-brake on my 93 hatch. When I engage the brake I have to pull the handle all the way up and it still isn't fully functional. I try to avoid parking on any hills or minor grades for that matter. And once I release the e-brake it goes back up about three clicks on its own and the "BRAKE" light stays on. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

first, if you have rear drums, adjust the shoes out to spec- this will help ebrake and brake pedal feel.

If you have rear disc, adjust the cables(under center console attached to handle)...should be fully engaged between 5 and 7 clicks

Thanks for the advice. I adjusted the cables beneath the console and my handle works fine now. However, the break is still somewhat weak. Its strong than it was before adjusting the handle but the car still rolls in my driveway with the e-brake handle engaged.

you can adjust it some more, or replace your drums and shoes. also, double check your e-brake cables as well. had a similar problem and a week late the driverside cable snapped.

Yeah i was going to check my cables when I got the chance. I've had a cable snap before. BTW this is for rear disc not drums.

discs huh, well maybe the pads are low? any way. doesn't hurt to check the cables. they just might be worn and need replacing.
