Default DC HEADER MODIFICATION

I was just wondering if the DC header needed to be modified in any way when being installed. I heard that the O2 sensor bung needs to be welded on, just wondering. Thanks!!

my O2 sensor is making my check engine light stay on. did I not put the sensors back in correct or is it just going to be that way regardless of what I do. the check engine light wasn't on originally but it came on about 50 miles after the install

You need to buy an o2 simulator to eliminate the check engine light. Either that or jimmy rig the o2 farther away from the exhaust stream to avoid the CEL.

If you check on Ephatch.com and go to resourses they have a quick easy and cheap way to fix the check engine light my friend did it and it worked. Good Luck

thanks alot man. I'm going to try this tonight hopefully. after i rig it. what should I do to get to CEL to go off? hey 2.0friend, everything for the header came in the box with the header and there was no welding needed. The only thing you'll need to do is rid the second o2 sensor so your check engine light isn't on all the time.

I thought you can just drive the car 2 cycles where the ecu reads it and it will reset itself.

I got a dc race header. I got this o2 simulator
and used that to avoid the check light from going
on. I got the simulator from my mechanic.
The checklight hasn't come on and its been about
a month.

Wait a min. you are replacing your o2 sensor that is on the header with an o2 simulator?

Isn't this a big NO NO? does the DME read and decide the a/f ratio based on this o2 sensor?

An o2 simulator is basically a resistor that simply sends the signal that the o2 sensor is present. The sime will not monitor EGT which is why i ask about the effects of running the simulator?

I believe what they are talking about is a threaded bung that goes between the o2bung on the header, and the o2sensor. Thus keeping it away from direct airflow from the exhaust. It will still be able to do its thing and sense a/f's its just taking it out of the direct path of the exhaust

Ey AlabasterSI what kind of car did your friend say the part was for? Or is it universal?

Thanks

Run a few spacers on the 02 sensor bung and you shoud be good for that. Never had a problem on my VW doing it.

Alright I just bought it today at autozone and installed it already. It was installed at 14,810 miles. I hope the CEL stays off. Thanks for your link jkocr2.

Alright one more question about this header. What is the piping size? 2.25 or 2.5? I need to know so I can get a Cut-Out. Thanks in advanced
