Default can't close hood? latch?

I have a 92 honda civic hb. Can't seem to close the hood. It was fine earliar, but now it seems as if it's not long enough to hook up to the latch/?? any ideas?

It hooks to the latch but doesn't clip if you know what I mean. The latch looks to be in the right position and the hood lines up right... cables is good.? losing hope.

show I take off the latch and try to make it sit more to the top? But how would I get to the 10 m bolts holding the latch...?

please help.

check the latch by having someone pull on the release while you watch it...see if it returns to its original position. if not it needs to be relubed.

hey, you know the whole latch thing up front, look at the front of it...you'll see a cable with a metal hook....i bet it isn't retracting.

you can slide it to your right and it'll allow the hood to close, you can just use your finger.

its right up front, if i wasn't in for the night i'd go take a picture.

its at the bottom near the handle you use to release the hood...

hopefully you'll see the cable, and what i'm talking about... i'll try to find a picture

Thanks instrument - I'll try and snap a shot can you point it out to me...

I can't seem to find a hook that will allow me to move it with my fingers.

bro.. listen to what everyone else is saying... where the hood latch is is a retracting spring... it probaly didnt retract all the way.. fit your finger in there.. and slide it ot your right... thats all ou need to do... or like lift the latch up.. and you sould be fine.. trust us

you know what, i've never tried fixing it, i've cleaned it/sprayed it in a half assed effort to fix, but i've never sat there and tried to fix it.

if anything i think the spring which you can see if you look at it from behind looses its tautness and can no longer retract....so possibly it just needs a new spring.

maybe i'll fix that too while i'm waiting for my parts.

did you get your hood closed?

every one has the right thing as far as away to get it closed but its not the spring that is causing the problem its the latch needs lube and so does the cable. Have a friend help you and use a lube with Teflon in it degrease the latch and re-lube. have your friend work the hood pop inside the car and spray the cable where it enters its tube you might have to do this a few times once the lube penetrates the cable it will work like new.
