Default running radio antenna cable help

alright, well my 88 crx si never had a radio in it from the factory. I now want to put one in and got the antenna off ebay with the wires. I can not get that dang wire to run down through the car. It seems to stop right about where the pillar meets the dash. I took off the plastic pillar cover and those tiny little holes allowed me to shine a flashlight in there and see the cable. It seems to hit the drain tube for the sunroof or something. I tried a coat hanger to find a hole, everything. Where should it go, does it run under the plastic cover or inside the actual pillar like i have been trying. I am ready to get a radio in as soon as I do this, so please help me HT. Where should the wire come out at under the dash, I see where the drain tube pokes out, and that certainly isnt where the cable comes out, because the drain tube is tight in the hole. TIA

I think he is saying he pulled the old one out with a string attached and then pulled the new one back through, which is the way I replaced mine but it seems you don't have an old one to do so with...it is a damn tight fit, it comes out near the hood release under the dash in that general area...I would suggest try putting the coat hanger down through find it under the das and the tie a string to it, pull it back out the roof tie the string to the new antenna wire and pull it through...its a real pain

My friend gave me a universal antenna that he got for his 89 accord and it said it fit a CRX too but I have to so some triming and stuff to make it fit right, hopefully yours isn't as retarded as mine was, hth

i just replaced mine today the way i did it ws pull up the old antenna a few inches cut it then tie it to the new on and just pull on the old one, but in your case i would use some fish tape and tie it to the new antenna and push the fish tape through the hole and just feel around for the fish tape under the dash and if all else fails you might have to remove your dash man.... good luck

if you look on the back of pillar cover you will see little holders for the cable.

alright, where the draintube for the sun roof goes into the inside of the pillar, i smashed that down with a flatblade screwdriver after taking off the plastic cover. i duct taped a string to a coat hanger and pushed it through to pop out on the other side. untaped that end and taped the string to the wire. Pulled it through with needle nose pliers once i got it reallyclose to exit hole. I then ran it down through the clips that hold two other wires along the pillar. then took a straightened coat hanger and pushed it up through from under the dash to where i saw light and where other wires ran. taped it to the wire and pulled with a tad bit of force, it then just popped and came right out with the hanger. all easy from here on out trust me it is easier to push up than down, just remove your fuse cover for a tad more visibility and room. then cable tied and sealed everything back up. If you so desire, i can snap some pictures for you to show you where i mean.

remove this cover

run wire out this hole
(if you look close you see the brownish looking tube that is the drain tube it comes out by)

run it down along pillar like this...

and then down through here with the other wires, use the coat hanger trick earlier listed in previous post

^^ that picture is at the bottom left corner of the windshield...have fun, it sucks!!
