Default b16 swap won't start.... maybe you can help?

91 dx swapped to obd0 b16. has a brand new distributor

things checked so far:

wiring, all mpfi wiring checks out haven't run the vtec stuff yet but the wires are run off the ecu.

compression test, 180 or so across the board

checked spark at #1 cylinder, good spark

pulled the fuel rail, all injectors spraying

Cleaned grounds, tranny, thermostat, front motor and starter

ok, the motor will cough a bit then start for a second then die. if you give it gas it kills it trying to start. the battery light seems to be staying on.

any suggestions are welcome.

thanks for your help.

It's easy to mess up that wiring. I did it and I had directions

Mine was doing almost exactly what yours is doing. I had spark and fuel and compression but it turns out I goofed and messed up a few wires.

ok this thing has some kinda fuel issue i think. If i spray some starting fluid into it when starting it starts up. this leads me to think its not getting fuel. i have 50 psi at the fuel rail. i put a injector noid on the #1 injector plug and when i crank the light is very faint.. the light gets bright for a second when the motor seems to catch.

aside from this fuel issue which i am currenlty stumped on. does anyone have a pic of the round distributor plug? i need to know what wires go where. i had to de-pin a square connector that was on the dx harness and got a round connector from a different dx harness.

Then you should double check your wiring to your injectors. Sounds like a bad splice, solder, butt connector or however you hooked them up.

mother fugger.... how does the resistor box work exactly? could that be faulty?

on another note i checked the timing today, i am 100% sure the timing is on, and its on the right stroke.

whats the precedure for checking injector voltage? maybe i could cut it down to one or two misbehaving...

thanks for all the input thus far

when i swapped my b16 into my 91 hatch, i had a similar problem. found out that the injectors themselves were bad not the wiring to them. swapped the injectors from my old a6 (they are the same) and it fired up and ran like a champ. retrace the wiring and if you still have the same problem, check the injectors. just my .02.

Mine almost did the same thing... But it might help..
My engine starts rev up to 5000k and die.
I had a bad TPS. and check the connector on the IACV and MAP sensor.
Double check all you vaccum lines
