Default piston rings scraped the cylinder sleeve...

ok, so when we changed the piston rings, one of the piston rings slightly popped out, and slightly barely, scratched the cylinder wall, now... if i rehone it, and it doesnt fix the problem, would anything be detrimental to me driving my car that way? i know i could buy a new sleeve, but sheesh, im already doin a complete engine overhaul. any suggestions? thanks..

Did you hone out the cylinder walls before you put in the new rings? if it's a scuff then it wont harm it as the rings will seal with the cylinder wall crosshatch and won't be noticible in a few km.

I wouldn't worry about it, if you really are worried then do a quick hone on that cylinder and install the rings properly again

If, after honing, it is still deep enough to catch your fingernail, it would be a good idea to get it over bored.
