Which year B18B1
Hello,
The engine in my car was swapped before I bought it.
PO tells me '96.
I called the Honda dealer and they told me '94.
It's a B18B1
1338807.
I need to know if it should run on OBD1 or OBD2. Thanks.

It's a '93 GS-R and runs on an OBD1 P75 ECU 94/95 non-vtec teg. Harness is rigged.
I need to replace the harness and need to know if I just need an OBD1 harness or OBD2 ECU and harness.
Car isn't running right obviously. MAP sensor code. Sensor replaced, still code, IACV wire cut etc. plugs all wired together (not plugged).

If you have an obd1 harness setup right now, for the non-vtec motor,
Then you can leave it just like that, only difference with the newer motor(if it's a 96)
All you do to make it odb1, is change a few parts, like dizzy, alternator, and injectors.
But pretty much, if it's 96+ motor, and if you have those obd1 parts, the engine won't know the difference, long as you have the right ecu/harness setup.
:edit:
Also, if the valvecover has NOT been changed, you can easily tell the year range.

It looks like an OBD2 harness actually. There's two plugs dangling by the Ecu... since OBD2 ECU has 5 instead of 3 plugs right?
I think I'll need to buy an OBD1 harness and see what that does.
Can I check the number on the dizzy for example and see if it's an OBD1 or OBD2 dizzy? The timing is fully retarted (dizzy moved all the way towards the front of the car). I tried putting it in middle and the car bogged crazy.

Cool. It's the 94-95 valve cover. It's been painted gold... so ummm, well, lets hope it's the original cover, but I'm preety sure now that it's a '94 engine now.
Thanks for the help!
