99 sedan, this seems pretty common. The hood will not latch down properly / shut completely. Is this a problem with the cable or the latch itself? We are looking at this car for my sister in-law. Just want to see how much it would be to fix or how hard it would be for me to put in a new cable or latch if needed.

id have to know more about what happins when u try and close it and what the latch does to figure out what it is..but both are easy to change..the latch is like 3 bolts..and the cable..is the harder of the 2 but still easy..you just gotta remove the fender.

 

you can push and drop the hood all day long and it will not shut all the way down. It just latches onto the "safety latch". When i pull the cable it seems normal, if it was broke i think it would pull really easy.

starting to sound like its just the latch now.

 

yeah sounds like tha latch..go to the junkyard..there like 5 bucks at the one i go to..its pretty straight foward to replace.
