my brother has a 95 civic dx with a sohc vtec zc motor and we just got done wiring up the vtec and and vtec light.....well everything is working fine 1st and most of second gear the vtec is engaged but at the very end of 2nd the check engine light comes on and the vtec light goes off. someone told me that i have a auto. ecu?? anyone have any ideas

 

There is no vtec light...it's the check engine light
did you check the car for what the code is?

what does it say on your ecu??? p28?

 

no i wired up a vtec light and yes it workes intil the end of second gear then the check engine light comes on...and yes i am running a p28 but i am wordering if by any chance it could be a automatic p28 causing it!?!?

 

it could be caused by being an automatic ecu



if you want to open up your ecu and look to see the difference, it's in the lower right hand corner of the ECU

checked the ecu and it a manual. and i just checked the code and itz code 22...how can i check the vtec pressure valve?

redo the wiring for the vtec pressure switch

 

when i wired this up was there suppose to be a ground??

 

yeah the vtec pressure switch must be grounded. The blue/black wire is the ecu wire and the other wire gets grounded.

 

would that cause the check engine light to come on ? i am prettty sure it would..i will post again later on how everything is going
