Default **TUNE-UPS $$$$$$$!**

well... my problems of neglected tuning have started to develop into the point where i cant drive my car for the next few days. ARGGGH!!!

my waterpump bearing is shot and im leaking coolant. to replace the belts and waterpump is goin to run me $400-$500. im not even going to attempt to do it myself... i wanna do it right this time around. plus, im too lazy.

oh well.. thought id share my story with yall... GRRRR!

MORAL OF THE STORY... dont neglect your tuneups... get that **** fixed asap. worry about performance mods later and dont be lazy!

try and do it yourself dude.. you're going to know if you screwed something up before any potential damage. worst case scenario you tow your car somewhere to finish the job.

Labor for that is sooooo expensive!!! But it has to be done. I never had my belt changed on my crx w/ the 1.5L, it the belt stripped and bent alll valves and screwed the pistons. Good reason to get a b16 though

Holy crap!! You have a turbo and you dont do tune-ups at least every 3 months? Yeesh! Lets hope this wont happen again!

Do it yourself man! You dont know what idiot is working over at the shop that will beat the hell out of your radiator and say "Oh, I found another problem!" or doesn't even know what the hell hes doing so he replaces your gas cap and when that doesn't work, he lets friends come over to help! They decide they want a test drive after they are done and pull the Ebrake at a stoplight and burn out for about 3 miles. All while saying, LETS TRY AND TURN UP THE PSI!!!

hahah dont worry man... a guy i trust is going to do it. i would only pay him $200 and get the parts on my own. he dropped a 2.7L v6 engine in my older car (acura legend coupe) and he did a pretty good job. im sure he can change a water pump and timing belts. HE BETTER!

im too lazy to do it. hehe i rather have it done right as well. he owns his own shop and works on imports alot. about maintenance... i change my oil every 3 weeks. i commute thats why. i regularly change the sparkplugs and blah blah blah. its just the major tuneups i fail to maintain. i think careless install of my cam gears caused the problem. the timing belt is alittle loose and i think it afected the waterpump. plus, the car was bought used with 110,000 miles... so im not sure how well it was maintained.

my stepmom's mom's civic went 155,000 on the orig timing belt. It broke, but nothing was broken inside the top end. 500 for timing belt and pump, for that money, I'd let someone do it all day long. It was the $1000+ quotes for my G/F's eclipse that were a ripoff. how many miles on your car now, that the pump is going bad?

My mechanic is really cheap on labor. The last timing belt I had changed on my civic 4 years ago cost me 400 with belt, water pump, accessory belts radiator hoses and labor.

parts alone for the water pump and all belts are $175. my mechanic is only chargin me $200. the dealer is charging $400 just for the waterpump/labor and an additional $100 for the belts/labor.

one reason why you shouldnt compare your stepmom's car to mine... BOOST. eclipse repair is ridiculous. i have 132,000+ miles on my car so far. i think it got bad because the timing belt is supposedly a little loose from the install of the cam gears. this may have affected the pump. actually, im not even sure if its that.. because when i got the car... it already had $105,000+ on the count. not sure if the previous owners maintained it right.
