6 gen parking brake problem
Hey everyone. I'm new here and would like to understand more about my Accord so I thought about joining this forum. Well as stated above, I have a 2000 Accord SE in auto.
I was wondering about my parking brake because the light is still on even after I set the ebrake down. It stays on for quite a while, but it doesnt seem that the ebrake is actually engaged as I notice no significant loss of speed/power.
The light eventually turns off, usually when I hit freeways. Sometimes the light will turn off, but as soon as I apply more gas, the light will come back on.
Another note is that even though the ebrake light is on, if I pull the ebrake, the light will glow a little bit brighter.
I appreciate any help.

Common issue with our cars, I believe.
Some say it's because of a saturated floater that's in the master brake cylinder. Just play with that for a bit, and the problem should go away.
You may also want to check the connections around that area, too.

Wow fast reply...Thanks. How would you go about in checking the connections or the saturated floater in the master cylinder?
Also, is it a common problem in the 6 gen that there might be some suspension problem? It feels like some part of the suspension is getting loose or hitting something else. The ride is very bumpy. I thought it was just cuz i didnt inflate the tires to optimum, but even after an inflation, the ride still is overly bumpy.
Thanks again for the help though
Now that I think of it, check the brake fluid level first. The brake light usually goes haywire when the fluid is low.
Is your car making any squeaking, or other strange noises?

What works for me is to clean the eletrical connectors for the float with some electrical cleaner. I've done this on a couple different Accords and a Prelude with complete success.
K ill check the brake fluid.
My friend says that the brakes make noise when she took it for a drive, but when i normally drive it, i here nothing. Maybe cuz of the music, but as far as i know, doesnt seem to make any noise.

so i checked the fluid, seems to be in the middle of the resovior. about the brake pads, theyre probably running low.
so philadd suggested this:

I had that problem as well,
Brake fluid was middle/low in the resivoir, filled it up and it went away.
Also, I don't know how to do it, but when I got a new keyless entry from the dealer I asked them and they said brake fluid and clean and adjust the brakes should be it, if that does not fix it definatly need new pads...

Any auto parts store should have some electrical cleaner. It's in a aerosal spray can, similar to, say, engine degreaser or wd-40. If you look at the cap to the resevoir, you should see 2 wires attached to the cap. The connectors should be just a few inches down the wires.
Do a search on "brake light" or "brake indicator" in the Accord archives. Someone posted a link that described how to clean (or replace) the float, if that's where the problem is coming from. I'm can't say for sure if it was a TSB or not, but I don't think it was.
My method has worked for me so far, but I'm aware of a couple people that needed to do more.

I don't remember seeing one about it, so I think you're right.
