Default anybody ever impact the crank pulley nut off?

well i got the motor out of the car, pistons, rods removed...oil pick up is gone but the girdle or whatever is still on...did you guys just impact the pulley nut off to get the pulley off or did you guys jam the flywheel with something then take it off with a breaker bar?

I've done it both ways. The impact was by far and away easier.

Well majority of the time if you use an impact you wont have to stop anything from turning since an impact doesnt really just "turn" the nut if that makes sense....I have done it both ways and both ways work just fine (if you have abig enough breaker bar )

You can put rope down the spark plug holes to stuff the cylinders and keep them from moving,

3/4 impact gun with a 3/4 to 1/2 adaptor with a 19" will pull that sucker off. EVERYTIME!

I own this:

and this:

and still couldn't get the 19mm crank pulley bolt to even budge on my JDM B16A1. I finally had to take a propane torch and heat it up. Zipped right off after that. Funny thing was it had no oxidation (rust) or any sort of adhesive (Loctite) so I have no idea why it was so hard.

What did you set the psi at, normal psi setting is 90, I had one where I had to boost it to 120

we made a tool to hold the pulley in place, just a bar with two bolts through it that bolt to the pulley, hold with one hand and turn the breaker bar witht he other, very easy. made it when we couldnt get the pulley off with an impact.

I used a 3/8" impact on medium setting and it got it off. If you can't get it off with a half inch impact on full, it was in too tight.

I don't get this jamming it thing? And impact takes almost everything off, and my 2 hands take the rest off.
