Default quick question on 99-00 si cluster

hey honda-tech, i got a 99-00 si tach for my 96 cx, and when i bought it a year ago and installed it, there was a mainenance required light that was amber red, like the rest of the cluster, i just got back from vaca. i went to drive the car and it was green, so im wondering which means maintenance is required, when its red or green, thanks

it'll transition from green to orange to red. Red means bad. Which would be maintenance really required.

all that marker is for is for emissions equipment inspection, and replacement if needed, all it is for it to ensure it gets to the dealer to ensure all emissions gear still works.

im pretty sure you can just take a key and push in a little button on the cluster and it will reset and turn it green again

This is true.

The maintenance required square doesn't really mean anything, it's just a reminder on a 7,500 mile counter. It turns orange around 7000 and red at 7500. I'm not sure what it's supposed to remind you of. You can reset it to green by pushing the little rectangular button next to it.

wrong

the maintance rec light goes stricktly off milage. has nothing to to do with emmissions, rather that the car is do for a maintance interval. sometimes that is just a oil change, rotate, and brake inpection. other times it meansyou need more major stuff including trans service, coolant drain/fill, valve ajustment etc. check your owners manual or dealer to see what is rec at your currant milage. and yes the key in the cluster thing will turn it green again.
