Default speedo going haywire

hi, i've got a prob with speedo in my 92 cx eg.

basically it bounces around irratically.
sometimes i'll accellerate and it will just get stuck, then it'll "catch up" with my actual speed later on, or even get stuck showing like 190mph and then will try to do a full 360.

Just all in all crazy stuff,

but the odometer and trip counters seem to function fine, at least I haven't noticed anything.

any advice?

At first I thought it was the VSS, but now that I see that the odo works ok, i'm not so sure.

your cluster may be bad. I had this problem, and changed the VSS, and it turned out to be the cluster. If you have a spare cluster or a friend that can let you use theirs to test it, then do that

if you get another cluster, you can either roll back the miles on it, or swap the part where the mileage is

my speedo went crazy worked like a tach, it ended up being a loose ground. on the body. check all the grounds in the engine bay.
