Default B20 in CRX... Couple of ?'s...

Well... I am looking into buying a b20 and I have done some research. I have a b16 harness and b18 ECU and B18 tranny. Will the harness and ECU work for the motor. Nobody around here has a b20 in a CRX so I want to be the first. If you can point me to a thread or to a website or anywhere else that would offer some info. it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

First off what trim is the car?

No, B16 harness will not work you need to convert the current harness in your car, check the FAQ at the top of the forum.

B18 ECU will work.

B20's arent that great unless you sleve them. Even with a b16 head you can only rev it to 7k without worrying about the sleves cracking. Dont take my word for it, check out http://www.b20vtec.com

i dont know about that...I'd take a stock b20 over a b16a or b18a anyday..they're really great motors with crazy tq in our cars,,,,,and trust me you can rev to +8000 without resleeving,i know from experience.....people dog the b20 all the time and dont even know why ,,they think the sleeves are thinner when infact they're thicker then the other b-series (look thicker to me).........But the thing that makes it weaker is the unisleeve design.......

Mr. Speaker speaks the truth. B20s are good engine, they are not thinner sleeve, only weaker.

I've seen B20s rev to 9000+ on stock bottom end. They don't like it, but they will do it concidering stock rev limiter on them is in the 6000rpm range.

If the car is an Si and the ECU is OBD0, the ecu will just plug in, modify the CRV engine to OBD0 specs (injector plugs and what not ) or buy a prelude b20 that is already OBD0 and then it's plug and play for wiring, simply get a mounting kit.

Do you always run around and repeat things you have heard to be rumor and pass it off as truth?

Im so tired of people that just spout out responses about motor tech related stuff that dont know from actual experience. Just rumor.

I have been running 28 psi on mine now for a while, and not even a hint of a problem. It's all in your a/f tuning and attention to detail that builds a motor worth keeping.

The prelude b20 is the b20a. I'm pretty sure that is much different than the b20b and b20z that people use (mounts, etc).

I'm just going on what I"m told. Read at the website I posted above and you'll find that its a crapshoot.

yeah you're right about that prelude b20,,they're are comepletly different then the others,,dont even consider it a b-series motor...

i know the website you're talking about,,they have great info ..but thats like saying you cant take the ls motor past its stock rev limit of ~7000rpm but you can....you can take the stock b20 bottom to 8000revs if you want to no problem,,no point though unless you have a vtec head of course..

Yeah, the prelude B20 is a totaly different engine than the other newer B20 varients.

The prelude B series engines are alone in their little world. I hate them.
I love my 3rd gen prelude but the motors that are available for them are ****.

I have had several B20vtecs and love them! I seem to put them in every car I get! LOL! Its all in the tune! Maintenance is key to the life of any engine and just overall common sense. Its not a rev happy motor but, make the best of its torque!

Way too many misconceptions on here about the B20...also a lot of trial and error that went bad from people who tried to piece them together half ***. Get it done by a reputable shop, have it tuned, and enjoy

the info is on here. SEARCH.

the all motor forum is FULL of people running these motors, and they list ALL THE **** they used to do it.

its not some big mystery we're all hiding from you. click the red search on the top right, choose "all motor" as the section, type in B20

and hit ENTER. theres your very own custom web site with tons of example setups and tips.

recent content:

Your search for b20 returned 34 results.

archived content:

Your search for b20 returned 107 results.

you can also search other sections too. nothing stopping you. like here in the crx section, im sure lots of guys with EG's run them, and integras as well.
