subwoofer and amp compatability?
ok so i have a jl 500/1 amp and 2 Rockford Fosgate 10" HX2's laying around. I'm not an expert or anything, but i know that the jl puts out 500watts.
the subs are DVC, 500rms and 1000max.
i am planing to only use 1 of my subs since its a better match. my question is, how should i wire the subs? i never understood how to change impedance of subs and that sort of stuff. will 1 of these HX2's work good with my 500/1?
or should i look for another amp/sub combo? i'd really like to keep the amp/subs i have now because i dont have any money...so any suggestions on wiring would be great! thanks in advance
EDIT: any diagrams or pictures of wiring would be great also!

how do i know if its a dvc4 or dvc2?
it has + and - connectors on each side of the sub. i dunno if that helps?
EDIT: the subs are 4ohms x 2. (thats what it says in the manual)

wire the sub voice coil like this. Positive to positive and the negitive to negitive. This is call parallel- and will give you a 2 ohm load. here a diagram

that site isnt really all that accurate,
Total resistance of parallel resistors = resistance of a single component/number of resistors
Total resistance of parallel resistors = 1000/2
Total resistance of parallel resistors = 500 ohms
that is totally wrong here is a better site for ur understanding
