Default Eagle crankshaft flywheel dowel pins??

Got a question, I just put an Eagle crankshaft onto a GSR block and at the area where the flywheel bolts up (at the 8 flywheel bolts), there are 2 dowel pins coming out of it. It gets in the way of bolting up my flywheel. Does anybody know what it is used for? Should I remove it? Any ideas would be hot. Thanks.

Actually only 1 dowel pin...I shouldn't call it dowel pin because it is a solid pin...not hollow....sorry about that. Any ideas?

precision surfaces like the bell housing, cylinder head, and flywheel use these to perfectly seat whatever sits on them, like the head, tranny, and the flywheel, in the case of the flywheel, they are used to perfectly seat it, since when you put the flywheel on with the bolts you can move it a tad, which could cause an imbalance and destroy the crank or flywheel or both. so the dowel is there to keep it aligned.
