Default 94 Accord LX Oil Leak!!

Ah, how I hate my car. One thing after another...but anyways. Yesterday, I changed my oil. All went well for a day. Today, I back out of the driveway...and a sea of blackness emerges from beneath me. Great. I grab the ramps and drive the car up em. At this point, I'm hoping for something as simple as forgetting to tighten the oil pan nut all the way, but this car wouldn't allow for that, oh no, it's always something complicated and expensive.

I check under the hood and can't see anything, so it's gotta be something on the lower side of the engine. With nothing being visible from the top of the engine, I get under there and behold, waiting for me, the entire left side of the engine is absolutely coated in oil. Greeaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

I really can't find the source...it's a lottttta oil. It's soaked from the left of the engine to about an inch or two right of the oil pan bolt..the other side of the engine is relatively dry. The oil filter and exhaust pipe are completely dry.

Little help....please?

Check to make sure all the screws/nuts or whatever on the oil pan are tight, i was noticing alot of leakage too and i took it to a shop and they said it was loose and eventually i'm going to need to replace the pan

Just checked again and nah, it's coming from somewhere above the left side of the oil pan and all down the left side of the engine, dripping onto the skid plate. It's never leaked oil before today, and it was fine all day yesterday(I changed it in the early morning). Sooo, I dunno.

That year Accord and I believe 1995 models too were recalled for a defective oil pump or crankshaft seal. If it has not drifted out, it at this age will be hard and out of shape. In either case it should be replaced. This will require the removal of the main crank pulley and lower timing belt cover as well as the lower timing belt sprocket and some shims etc. This should have been done automatically if the car was ever taken in to a Honda dealer for a timing belt replacement. While one is in there to do this seal, they may as well do the water pump and timing belt too.

Actually it was specifically the oil pump seal right next to the crankshaft main pulley. Its the same problem as I noted earlier and same amount of work to fix. Here is the bulletin from Honda. Looks like it only affected 1994 and later models Jim.

I actually think that's exactly where it's coming from. I just got back under there, cleaned off all the oil the bottom of the engine, threw in some old oil, and let it idle for a few minutes. Now I'm just waiting to see where it starts seeping out from again..I'll let you know.

Thanks a bunch to everyone who's posted and has given suggestions so far, I really appreciate it.

Yes it was the oil seal but they said it was better to change water pump ,timing belt ,etc . was the seal the only thing covered .At the time my mechanic said it was happening to a lot of 93,s I asked the dealer if there was a recall on they told me not the 93 but they did not mention the 94,s 95,s It still bother,s me that A $1.00 SEAL could cause so much damage $ they (honda) did,nt even say sorry about that.
