Default ECU "upgrade"

I was just listening to two of my friends argue today - one has a '94 EX (nothing on it at all) and they were talking about power gains for it w/o boosting or swapping. I quickly got out of the conversation as I quickly found out that D-series motors are useless as expletive unless they're boosted (and I don't care if the D-series N/A freaks come attack me, they still suck N/A, so <^&gt.

With that said I was kinda half paying attention, though doing a tuneup at the same time. So Mike says to 'em "why not just get a GSR (P72) ECU, swap that in for your current one and it'll be faster"

Now I didn't say anything b/c I didn't want to get involved but I thought about it. Would that actually do anything? I would think obviously a P28 tuned would be more efficient, though the GSR has higher fuel maps, so would that make it run faster, or just richen the **** out of it?

No, it will do dick. I'm just wondering if it's bad dick or good dick :-P.

Seriously though, I mean obviously it would do something b/c the larger displacement of the GSR engine the fuel maps have to be different. So would it just run like 15's or higher? on the AF or would it gain more HP (doubtful)?

I mean obviously it'd have some effect, I was j/w which exactly...don't worry, I'm not gonna put one on my car and then create a thread 2 weeks from now wondering why I'm getting 15mpg :-P I was j/w, the question's been beating the hell outta me b/c of those two dicks talking while I was working O.o.

Wow, I don't think you understood what I was saying at all - I never asked if it would run 15's TIME wise...I wasn't talking about ET's or racing at all, lemme rephrase.

How rich would the a/f mixture be?

It would be rich enough to make it have **** gas mileage and run slower.

Way too rich where it'll bog a lot and not feel good.

If you're so interested, tell your friend to go to the track run with what he has, then run with a P72 and see what happens.
