Power Steering Removal, How did you do yours?
I got a quick question, besides actually removing your power steering pump, what else do you guys do to remove it? Meaning, did you remove your lines? Did you cap any lines off? Did you plug any lines? Did you loop any lines? What all did you guys do?
I got a 1991 4dr Integra with a fully built Laskey Racing complete long block and I have removed the power steering pump off the car along with the AC but I was wondering, what to do with the actual power steering lines it self.
Any info or advice would be great!
Thanks in advance.

im interested to see what others have done as well. I've heard mixed opinions.
Supposedly if you leave the lines open it wont be that hard to turn, but the rack will eventually lock up.
And if you cap the lines then it holds pressure and is very difficult to turn.

What car do you pull a manual rack off of? Will it be a direct fit onto a 1991 integra or will you need to mod things to make it work? Anymore info on this would be great!
Thanks

You have a pressure line, and 2 return lines... what did you do with your pressure line? Which lines did you loop? Which smaller line are you talking about you left alone?

Tony, is your car a daily driver or are you talking about your SFWD Car? On that note, another dumb question, are all the racks the same or did they change between years and body changes?

I used a civic manual rack out of a 90 i think for my 96 LS, removed all lines, you might need to find a U-joint though, i forget what that came off. with manual you also get much better turning ratio without the power assist.
On my old fourdoor me and the kid that did the swap just took all the fittings off and left em all open, just make sure you cut the wheel until it doesnt shoot out anymore fluid, so you dont have powersteering fluid getting over the back of a hot motor and smellin like ****. Ran fun and never had any problems with the rack.
mine is how tony said took all the lines off and left it open... i drove it for 4 years like that this year hasnt seen much street driving but its still works fine

what i did was remove all components (pump, reservoir, lines etc.) and actually cut off the inlet/outlet lines at around the same place, looped them, and then vented the extra (remote reservoir i think it was) line to a spare clutch reservoir i had lying around. For some reason this didnt work, and when i went to turn the wheel a line blew off a fluid went everywhere, so i set it up differently and now it works beautifully. Basically just cut them and played with it trying to figure out the flow, and which line to throw a reservoir on so the fluid has some place to go...works great tho
