Want to get my first Honda and do a swap and race. How much expected to pay out?
I want to get my first Honda. The EK Civic hatch sounds like a good car to start with. But, how much can I expect to pay for an engine swap plus the price of the engine? Which engine should I choose? k20a2, b18c5, h22, so many and I don't know which is best. This car would be my daily driver as well so I wouldn't want turbo and I do want good gas mileage.
first swap?
I say go with b series, youll learn alot about honda, youll get decent milage, good power.
then after you get a taste of the motor swap world, you can move on to bigger motors.

I would say if you wanna do a hatch with a swap, choose the EG (92-95) hatch. The engine bay is exactly the same as the integra engine bay, which means the engine swap is simply easy. You take the old motor out and drop the b in. new engine mounts are not required, yet highly recommended. You just use the same ones off the Integra motor, unless you change out the drivers side post on the motor, then you can use the Civic's mounts. There is a book you can also buy called Honda Engine Swaps at Barnes n Noble. It has a lot of useful information on different hondas and what swaps to do and not do. Its literally a walk through process on what needs to be done. I myself did the SiR-G swap in my 92 HB, I'm actually still finishing it up. Its expected to run about a 13.9 or so in the quarter. Which is faster than the average Mustang GT running stock. I suppose the swap you want to do all matters about how much work you want to put into it, what your buget is, and how mechanically inclined you are.
a great way to save would be going to ebay and checking out the civic's for sale alot of them have engine swaps already you could save 100's or thousands buying somthing semi built already
Yes I have read all about the different engines. I still want to know which is best. The B, H, or K engines? I have about 8k to work with. Would going the K route be to expensive for me? BTW, I would be doing none of the work myself because I am not a mechanic. How much would a shop charge me to do an engine swap?

You could do a K swap for less then 8K.

search around. but i did up my old hatch. everything for like 8500 car, paint job, rims, suspension, motor. ran a 12.43 with the motor. and the best part, it was my daily driver.
