a/c recharge gurus need help with oil
I am retrofitting to r134 and have already cleaned out lines/condensor and dumped old oil out of compressor.
How much oil do I need to add to the system if I use ester oil, and what is the proper way to add it.
Also does pulling a vacuum on the system remove any oil?

I believe the ratio is something like 1:6. Or 1 part oil to 6 parts 134a. But, ehh, i always just use the pre oiled refrigerant on cars so....
The proper way of adding it will depend on what type of oil canister you've purchased... which is why i get pre oiled refrigerant, or atleast oil/refrigerant (1:1) so then you can shoot it in there just like the refrigerant. If you've got a squeeze bottle...?...
Putting the system in a vacuum will remove very little oil from the system. Though if you watch the vacuum pump itself it will look like it's pumping oil out... but that oil comming out is usually from the vacuum pump itself, not the a/c system is sucking on. BUT, putting the system in a vacuum will remove a lot of the residual refrigerant stuck in the oil that is left in there. The longer and deeper it's put in a vacuum, the more refrigerant the vacuum will boil out of the oil.

Is it safe to pull vacuum on a dry system and then use pre oiled freon ? If it is would 4 oz of pag oil be enough? Or am I better off just adding ester in comrpessor and then vacuuming?
