Default Kenji's ECU/chip

I just tried out Kenji's chip on my phearable ECU. Just popped in Kenji's chip in place of the phearable chip. Took all but 3 seconds to install. Again, here's my mods

95 Integra RS
AEM short ram intake
DC 4-2-1 headers
AEM accessory pulleys
AEM cam gears, set to stock
stock timing
2.25 mandrel bent exhaust with hondasport muffler (straight through)
stock cat
NGK wires and plugs
16" wheels
91 Octane
Phearable ECU with Kenji chip

Idle was fine, but initial throttle response was sluggish. So I thought, maybe the ECU needs to "learn" my modificiations. Well, after resetting the ECU, the car still felt very sluggish. I took it to this fairly steep mountain pass, which I pass on my way to work. Going uphill, very slow. Couldn't maintain speed (70 mph) without dropping into 4th. Acceleration is still sluggish, and whats really weird, the gas pedal feels "heavy." Seems like the car is running very rich.

So after 45 minutes of driving, I put back Phearable's ECU. Car accelerates MUCH FASTER. Gas pedal feels light, power in all RPMs, no sluggish response. Now that's more like it!! I go back to that mountain pass, and sure enough, the car accelerates going uphill just fine. No need to drop it into 4th.

Now I understand this is all based on my butt dyno, but dammint, the situations don't lie. The car has much more useable power throughout the RPM range with phearable's basemap, vs. Kenji's. I guess everyone was right...Kenji's chip dumps a lot of useless fuel, making it very rich. Glad I only paid 20 bucks for that chip! lol

I'm still planning on taking the car to a dyno. Next up, is J-K Tunings chip, but so far, phearable's ecu is still on top. It'll be on my car till smog check time.

not really sure what the point of this thread is....... LOTS of people will vouch for kenji, phearable, kteller, and myself...... it just really depends on the motor and how the tuned map works with your set up. I've had some people ditch their phearable base maps for one of my maps, saying vise versa of what you've just said, but I'm sure people have said the same thing about my chips to phearable.... Next time, if you're going to post a thread like this, its smarter to post dyno results rather than just going by your butt dyno.

On a side note, you're LS motor is fairly stock w/ the typical bolt ons so there's no way you can expect "huge" or even noticeable gains with a chipped ecu. Phearable, Kenji, Kteller, etc definately know what they're doing.... If you have a problem or you're not happy with one of their chips/programs, I'd recommend you pm'ing/emailing them letting them know whats going on. Sorry for my ramble...just my .02

I never said I was expecting huge gains. I'm smart enough to know that I won't be getting any huge gains at all with a basemapped ecu. Further tuning on a dyno is required of course. I was just comparing basemaps of both ECU's based on my mods only.

I'll vouch for Kenji. With his chip, I've noticed better fuel economy over the last chip.

the basemaps are just to keep you running until you dyno it,,,,i used several chips and none is 100% accurate .....
even if u have the same stuff, allways theres a slight change that needs to be made...
