Default Head work?

After i buy my suspension im going to be building my head. Basically spoon cams, spoon cam gears, toda valve spring set, skunk 2 racing valves, blox titanium retainers, pulleys, and an ecu. Will the s300 work and would i need a vafc controller? This wont be happening till about next winter but i just want to know so i can find out how much i will need to save up. Also in a year me and my freind are going down to uti and mmi and when he is at uti we want to take my car and i want to turbo it this is in august of 2007. ill be going down there so this prpobally wont happen for 2 years. But while im building the head now i dont want to put parts in that im going to have to replace for a turbo set up. I think i can use everything but the spoon cams because i think those are built for naturally aspirated cars. Tell me what you guys think. Also tell me if you think i should just stay naturally aspirated and build the bottom when i go down there.

If you dont have a plan of what you want to do with your car ie NA or Turbo...better save your money. All those parts you listed are going to be $$$.

If you buy a hondata you dont need a VAFC.

you cannot go both directions...turbo doesnt lke NA cams which are usually high lift long duration....long duration on a turbo setup causes too much overlap which will contaminate the incoming intake charges...this added heat in the mixture can sometimes lead to detonation depending on the setup

well if youre going to boost you dont want a 12 to 1 cr etc...Running boost would be more difficult than say if you were 11 to 1 because now any little increase in manifold pressure will skyrocket the temps in the chamber. If you wanted to go NA it looks alright so far. Titanium retainers dont have a long shelf life you should know this, they will sustain more beating BUT will wear out faster than stock parts. You'd also want some OEM slugs that would bump the CR up (Not CTR's though those make the cr way too high on a gsr motor)

I think im going to go NA its less work such as once its done and tuned and done right than i wont be working on it like a boost car. Ill add the slugs to my list but what about ITB's yes or no and will be daily driven for about another year.

you can make a very good amount of power without the need of ITB's...200+ whp is definately obtainable without them. The right cams with the right compression ratio (which you'd obtain with the right set of pistons) will get you where you want to go. As far as which ones are the right ones...can't say because I don't know your power goals or your budget

if your looking to build a head.. check out "the mayor" on myspace.. its dave from headgames.. tell him what your looking to do and he will give you loads of info.... if your going to boost.. i would stay with stock cams. i would go with a decent valvetrain as you mentioned.. but instead of cams.. id go grab a full-race turbo mani.. check out evans-tuning.com.. the media section shows a log vs full-race mani hp difference..i think it was 40whp

if you are going all motor.. do some p&p work.. spoon parts are costly.. there are other companies with products that are just as good if not better for less.. ive heard great things about some of the new buddy club cams.. evans tuning did a dyno test on the skunks and the bc's.. the bc's are sweet and showing great numbers..

SpoonGSR, the reason why I mentioned about having a game plan before you start is because I have seen soo much money wasted from friends that start off AllMotor and then switch to Turbo. I stayed allmotor since day 1 and I will honestly tell you...it aint cheap.

So GL with your build and let us know how it goes.
