Default Question LS/VTEC

Well I would love to know something I am running a very stock LS/VTEC setup and I want to do some mods. First let me tell u what I am working with Stock B18A bottom half, Stock SIR2 head, stock headers I just install AEM cold air intake. I was planing on get some P30 piston and put in the car now, so I wondering if its a good idea to just drop in the piston on the stock rods?

Putting what you'd want out of the car might help..

p30 pistons are good but don't jump on bandwagon and get them they might not suit you.

it would be good to know what kind of goals u have for the car. do you want an ultra high compression motor or big cams? is the car daily driven or for track? as far as why you might not want to put in the p30s, do you have quality 91 octane or higher where you live, the higher the motors compression the greater the need for tuning to prevent detonation.

the quality gas out here is not all we don't have 91 octane we have 90. And I want a daily driver without problem and yes I want to visit the track with the car. Can I keep the stock LS piston in the car and still run good time. What mods can will u recommend I do to the engine now

some general suggestions based on your weak gasoline there:

-still bump the compression, possibly with usdm itr pistons
- upgrade your rod and head bolts to withstand higher revs (8000+)
- if you want to stay oem grab some itr cams, springs and retainers, and manifold.
- aem intake was a good choice, add a decent header, if your on a budget i would recommend a vibrant j-spec 4-2-1 race header (same as a t1r unit)

those are just some general ideas you might want to consider.

Upgrade to ARP rod Bolts!! Your oem rod bolts are way too weak!
