What's the right way to check timing and set it on an OBD-2 Accord ?... It *should* be set at 17 degrees advanced..

any good suggestions on timing advance ?
As far as I know 17 would be optimal.

every car is different...so there is no optimum setting...the right way would be to use a timing light...

I know to use a timing light

I wanted to know the step by step procedure for an OBD-2 Accord so I could set it myself tonight. Someone who knows help would be much appreciated.

And for all you ********* with smart remarks who don't enjoy helping peeps, NO i do not have a shop manual.

I'm not talking about CAM timing. Advancing your cam will make you lose high end, retarding it will actually lose low but gain high.

Ignition timing dude!

You don't lose any power advancing your ignition timing. So if that's what your talking then I'm sorry but you're mistaken. The dyno has proved it.

Some people assume that advancing the cam will show gains but again the dyno has also proved otherwise. Retarding the cam 4 degrees will bring out decent gains in the upper rpm band. Advancing will kill your top end.
