Looks like the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure).

Is that vacuum hose hooked up to the carbon canister? It might be the EVAP purge solenoid, if that hose is hooked up to the canister. For emissions purposes.

Has your ride been throwing any codes? If not, I would'nt worry about it.

No, it wont affect your performance. Looks like you won't have any problems with that. It should have a two wire plug that plugs right into it. Like I said, EVAP.

I was looking at the Helms manual, Smog09 is correct. It is the EVAP purge solenoid.

Exactly. Evap purge solenoid. If you are running OBD1, you can completely remove that whole system. Otherwise, leave it alone.

It's definitely not the MAP sensor, since you live in PA, you could probably take it off, and seal up the hole.

Like Smog said, it's just part of the EVAP/emission such, not something the engine needs to run.

Yeah, you are good to remove it if you don't have to deal with smog.

If I wanted to take that off as well, what would be the best part to cover the hole? If there is one.

There is one line running from the solenoid to the manifold (which needs to be capped off with a vacuum cap) and another line running to the charcoal canister. The solenoid is just bolted to the manifold...there is no hole underneath it.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't recall having to do anything besides capping a vacuum source to remove the whole assembly.

There is a hole underneath, that's why it's on the IM, for vacuum.

Yes, I've had mine off before, and there was a hole.
