Default Question about CR

What are the gains of getting lower cr pistons as compared to higher when using forced induction? cp is selling their kits for $450 and I've been wanting to buy some for my prelude. From what I've learned along the way the higher cr the harder it is to turbo with out breaking something. But at a higher cr you will make more power as long as nothing blows up. But I think thats common sense.

What I am wondering is how low should I go? there is 8.0:1, 9.0:1, and then 11.0:1. And stock is like 10.x:1. But what Im wondering is which one should I get? Im going to be running 9-12 psi on a h22a1 and I don't want to blow it up. I don't want to sleeve the block so if 12 psi is too much I'll just run 9.

What I want to know is what cr should I use? I want to get the 9.0:1 set.

And I would have put this in the forced induction section but it wouldn't let me make a new thread. So I just put it here in the lude section. Anything can help

Thanks

i think if im not mistaken not sleeving a block that you plan to turbo is a no no and a good chance of something breaking. Other than that i have no input on CR for turbo set ups sorry my 2 cents

Sleeving isn't necessary for most setups. But H-series are known for shitty stock sleeves, so yes, you need to sleeve it if you are going with forged pistons.

I will be running 8.5 CR pistons (Wiseco) in my B18B. But most people say 9 is ideal.

Yea I've heard the same thing about h22's. But I've also heard that they aren't neccesary until over 12 psi with forged internals. And I would most likely just be running 9psi since this is going to be my DD and I don't want it to break. But I would like to KNOW its not going to break. Anyone have any input on sleeving? I've never looked into it because it just seems like it would be so expensive to do. But maybe not. Any input on the cr or sleeving will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

How much boost are you going to be running? Most likely over 12 right? With that low a cr I would guess so.

Around 20-22 psi.

Well on most motors, sleeving isn't necessary with forged pistons. But on H-series it is. If you are going go with forged internals, sleeve it. But with only 9 psi, I would just leave the internals alone completely.

Thats another thing I've been thinking about doing. The car is running fine now on 9psi and it doesn't even have a "good" tune. Im going to be getting it retuned here shortly by slowmotion. I guess in stead of doing anything to the lude I'll just build the hell out of my d16 drag car...

Thanks
