How bad is it to reuse the bearings during a rebuild? I bought ACL Bearings and do not understand how people use them. Only one of the bearings in the original motor was a green. Please help asap...
Bearings are measured using clearances. Acl's are the middle size of the honda range, therefore, they are the the average size bearing. People use them because they fall within the tolerances for use with the bearings. You need to get a micrometer and measure your crank and do the same with the maincaps and rods with an inside micrometer. As long as your in the clearance range specified you'll be fine. Some people feel that using all OEM honda is more precise because you can get each of the mains and rods dialed in to the same tolerances which is cool, but you can get away without have the same exectness on each. Longevity however will be comprimised.
