Default slicks on a b16 eg.

Hi guys,

My current best times are 14.9 @ 90 mph with b16A in an eg(see mods below). This time was done on 205/50/15s dunlop street tyres, with 2.3 60fts. I would usually cross the finish @ 7k rpm in 4th. I'm goin to try some 20" slicks on 13" steelies. What kind of improvements can I look foward to?

I used these slicks on my old setup and my et improved form 16.2 to 16.00 and my 60ft from 2.5s to 2.2s. This was with a zc motor in a 1st gen teg.

If u get the launch down, good burn out in the box, and launch at like 7500 rpm, you could see 1.9's and a drop of upto a full second, but more likely .6-.7, good luck, and your rpms will increase at the line with the shorter tires

your goin from a 23inch tire to a 20inch tire... thats definately gonna make the car act like its geared deeper

i noticed a 1mph change from 25.5ish inch tires to 26inch slicks. so your gonna see a drop in 60 foot due to tire size and MOSTLY because its a slick and its sticky... and i'd say atleast 2-3mph difference, if it helps you to trap at a rpm higher than 7K... i dont know where your peak is, but i doubt its much higher than 7K. so you might pick up mph or you might not. 22inch slicks might be better for you. try the 20's and see how u run first

Not on a B16... Keep the 20's.

They can, but why not multiply torque even further, and run smaller diameter tires?

B16's need all the actual torque to the ground they can get.

Indeed... but he'll probably be looking for 5th gear. Doesn't really matter though.

How are people doing this? I had trouble getting 22"s going on my GSR.... with 14 psi in them.

He won't be anywhere near fifth gear only trapping 90mph... Even with 20" slicks.

Yeah. My bad on that one. You'll be looking for 5th gear at 100 mph most likely on the 20" slicks. Which is why they'll be perfect for the setup.

Are you sure you are that deep into 4th trapping at 90?

^^^ Yeah. His 7000 rpm crossing the line threw me off. I'll bet he's just shy of it though. It's not like 4th unwinds that quickly.

you know I might be wrong with the rpm. My teg use to trap 85 mph at redline which was 7gs with the slicks.

But I am deep into 4th gear with the 15s. It could be around mid 6s. I'll check next time for sure.
