sometimes if i'm going along and stomp on it, between 3k and the point wild vtec engages, it will lag, stutter. jerk, whatever till 5600rpms and vtec its, it acts right. whats up with this? sometimes it jerks too and check engine light comes on. but i can park it a second, recrank, and no check engine light. anyone know what this could be- or know a link where i can find out how to check my engine code, its a 95 gsr, obd1, so i know its a flashing code, and i have to connect two pins in the green harness above right kick, but there are two harness's there, one with two wires, the other about five.

 

you jump the one with two wires....pull the code and clean the vtec solenoid

 

Did you fill with less than 91 octane?

 

always have put 92-93 octane in, plus its not just been doing it recently, last month or two. fuel prob maybe, but this is a prob that occurs just when it wants to, not a everytime thing, maybe 25 percent of the time thing, fuel filter changed few months ago. injectors?

giving me code 17, vss wire, but why, tach works and speedometer fine. cruise works fine too

 

It could be a loose wire on your VSS causing an intermittant problem. Your ECU could also be going bad. VTEC on a stock P72 ECU will not operate without the VSS.

 

more info please, because sometimes vtec does not engage, no cel during prob though, cel just happens when it wants too, usually soon as a crank any random day.
