So I've had this problem with my beater for quite a while now. I have a code 43, which is the fuel supply system. This happens when the computer can't bring rich or lean o2 sensor readings back within spec. People on the forums say there's tons of things that can throw this code, like a bad fuel pump, fuel filter, injector(s), regulator, or a bad cat.
The car has over 265,000 miles on it. I'e been smelling exhaust for a while now. The car can stumble pretty much any time, but especially at higher RPMs, regardless of engine load.
First, I replaced my regulator with a known good one and reset the ECU. The code came back. So then I thought the injectors were starting to take a ****. But then I realized that there's seperate codes for each injector. Now I've come to the conclusion that it may be the cat.
This is my daily beater that I can't wait to firebomb or run into a tree when I get another car within the next month (hopefully). So, I won't really mind gutting my cat if it's clogged. I've heard of someone drilling through a cat with a long paddle bit made for wood. I would definitly go with this method if I were to gut it.
Ah what the hell, I'll probobly go to the junkyard and pick up some newer injectors while I'm at it. Hopefully one of these two things will take care of my stumbling and low gas mileage. What do you think?

i just got a new o2 sensor not too long ago. even did a 4-wire sensor conversion. i'm gonna drill out my cat tomorrow, and see if that clears it up. if not, i'll pick up some newer injectors from the junkyard.
and if these things don't fix the problem... **** it. i'm getting rid of this POS in like a month.
